ELA Regent Part B

Task: Answer the following questions using the ELA regents part 2 on Wikispace.

What kind of texts do you expect to read?
I expect the text to be on fact, which can be graphed.

What is a graph, and what kind of information does it elicit?
A graph is a set of data that is put to show how the data compare or contrast with each other.

How can you compare the two?

You can compare the two by looking at the information given in the graph.

What are they asking you to do in this essay?
They are asking to write an essay that would explain why the Florida manatee are being endangered and how to save them.

Is this a persuasive or informative essay? Why?

This is an informative essay because it does not show the author trying to convince the reader to agree with their opinion.

What thesis statement can you possibly write for this essay?
A thesis statement I could write is "The Florida manatee are endangered but there are ways to
help these animals from becoming extinct."

What if they wanted you to write a Letter to a senator, then how many paragraphs would you write?
If I would write a letter to a senator it would be 5-7 paragraphs.
